The Results are in . . .

909/1200 was my overall mark for the year, a big ‘ole 1.1 so as you might imagine I’m pretty well chuffed. Dare we say it either, but there may well be a bit of money in it for me like there was last year. Touch wood!

Self-indulgent update: Also top of my class it appears for the second year running. Aroo!

So, how’s work?

Good, now that you should ask. I’m going to be spending most of my summer in a legal firm doing odd-jobs but also getting to see the courts system in action with a great solicitor at nearly all levels (except the Supreme Court of course), but mainly Circuit and District (more occasionally High Court.) Peter, have you caught the worst thing to happen to the blogosphere since . . .

Actually, has there been as monumentally an event as bad as this? Robert ‘Trollslayer’ got a blog (which we daren’t link to - it’s professorfrankenbanker.wordpress.com in any event). It’s subtitled ‘Analysis, Comment and Solutions’. The guy’s 17 years old and his crowning intellectual achievements thus far have been to read the Wikipedia Articles on Thatcher, Reagan, Friedman, Hayek and ‘Classical Liberalism’ and thereupon declare ineffability. This wouldn’t be so bad but he’s arrogant enough to actually vomit all of this up as if he were some kind of fucking guru in any discipline. Read More…

Honorary Conferrings at U.C.C.

First up, the examination season is at an end so that’s always good and that means I might be able to get back to updating more often (I’m hard pressed for the energy these days mind, even though a uniquely ignorant ‘debate’ about the Lisbon treaty has been raging in the media, and the Bishops agree with me.*) Second of all, Honorary Conferrings are taking place here at U.C.C. next Friday, June 6th (D-Day!) and it may interest some of my readers that Prof. Samantha Power will be here to pick up an Honorary Doctorate in Laws.
